The virtual forge is a new realm of creation, one that artists and designers like myself are free to explore and experiment among.

The lightsaber is an original hilt design inspired by existing hilts in the Star Wars universe. I designed a model of the lightsaber, using Solidworks, that could be manufactured and assembled.

​

The focus of this project was to maintain an aesthetic exterior appearance whilst modeling a manufacturable interior, complete with threaded sockets, springs, and buttons. 

​

Despite being grounded in fiction, the components of this build are given proper tolerances to ensure proper fit during assembly. It is the work of designers like myself to transform intangible ideas into physical objects.
