Anchor 1

"Covr"
cables and canvas.

Covr is the second project that applies the principles of tension and compression to modern furniture. This piece is one of three projects that belong to a set of biomimicry inspired design.

The hammock features an abundant amount of cords, fixed to the each wall with three anchor points to accentuate the web like structure of the entire piece.

The color of the fabric sheets resemble a leaf that the jumping spider may use to cover itself with. The hammock embodies elements from the spider's habitat to further emphasize the theme of the project.

The principle of tension is demonstrated with the stretched nylon cords; the principle of compression is highlighted with the brass band that holds together the intersecting cords.
